I qualified from Leeds University in 1998.  In 2001, I passed the examination for Membership of the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners at the Royal College of Surgeons.

Whilst enjoying all aspects of general dentistry, I developed a particular interest in Periodontics, the treatment of problems relating to gums and gum disease. In 2001, I accepted a part-time post at Liverpool Dental Hospital in the Periodontal Department, allowing me to maintain my general practice.  In 2013 I was appointed Teaching Lead in Periodontics and Senior Clinical Lecturer in Periodontics a role I held for 5 years. During this time, I successfully completed a Masters Degree in Clinical Periodontology and I am recognised by the General Dental Council as a Specialist Periodontist.

My general practice career has seen me working in some of the North West’s most prestigious practices. I continue to work with Specialists form other disciplines of dentistry including Prosthodontics (crowns, bridges and dentures), Endodontics (root canal), Orthodontics (braces) and Dental Implants, allowing me to tackle the most complicated dental problems. I continue to provide some aspects of general dentistry including fillings, crowns, veneers and tooth whitening. I accept referrals for all aspects of periodontal problems from dentists from all over the North West and North Wales.

I continue to teach around the UK with the the very well known “PerioCourses”  and have lectured at every major UK dental conference, spoken multiple times at the British Society of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry conference and I run courses for the Royal College of Surgeons. I serve on the Council of the British Society of Periodontology as their Honorary Treasurer and I was elected to their Faculty in 2018.

In 2023 I was invited to become a Fellow of the College of General Dentistry.

My hobbies include walking in the Lake District and Masters swimming, something I returned to in the last 5 years.
